THEQC Students Commission Gives the 2023 Entry-level Training for Evaluators to Higher Education Students
The Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) Students Commission conducted an online Entry-level Training for Evaluators on 7-8 June 2023.
Fifty-three students from 43 higher education institutions, who were selected as a result of the multidimensional evaluations of the Commission and entitled to receive a certificate of participation by participating in the 2023 Quality Ambassador Training Program and the Quality Ambassador Workshop, were invited to the training that was held to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills regarding the processes of the THEQC Evaluation Programs. On 7 June 2023, 28 students, and on 8 June 2023, 25 students took part in the training program.
Asst. Prof. Gonca Uludağ, Academic Coordinator of THEQC Students Commission, undertook the instructional design, material development, and peer trainer training duties as well as the program coordinator. Erdoğan Taha Akbaş, THEQC Students Commission Chair; Ahmet Kayhan Korkusuz, Commission Vice-Chair, and Aslı Özmutlu, Berkay Tarım, Esra Köyönü, Evra Gürbüz, Ezgi Ayar, Meliha Taşdemir, Melike Gülay, Mehmet Sezer Altun and Yusuf Polat, the Commission members, took role in the training program as peer trainers.
The training consisted of five modules and was carried out as group work in virtual classrooms. Information about THEQC’s ethical rules, the evaluation teams’ site visits and subsequent activities, and the decision and appeal processes were given. The training, in which the participants were involved by making preliminary preparations through the documents sent to them, continued with the conduct of the evaluator competency test and the response to the feedback questionnaire by the participants. In the assessment session, all the participants stated that they gained more detailed information about the processes of THEQC’s evaluation programs, that they felt more ready for the evaluator role, and that all the training they attended, including the Quality Ambassador Training Program and the Quality Ambassador Workshop, were very instructive and entertaining. The participants also thanked the THEQC Students Commission. The training ended with the sharing of good wishes.
As a result of the assessment made at the end of the training program, 42 students, two percent of whom seek an associate degree, 89 percent bachelor’s degree, seven percent master’s degree and two percent doctorate degree were entitled to receive certificates of participation.
THEQC Students Commission continues to carry out studies to ensure student involvement in higher education quality assurance work and spread the culture of quality among students through its training programs, seminars, workshops, and meetings.
