THEQC Students Commission Attends the “Student Poverty in Europe” Webinar by EAIE

Erdoğan Taha Akbaş, Chair of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) Students Commission, Ahmet Kayhan Korkusuz, Commission Vice-Chair, and Berkay Tarım, Commission member, attended the online event on “Student Poverty in Europe” held by the European Association for International Education (EAIE) on 10 February 2023 as listeners.

The event started with a condolence speech for the earthquake disaster in Türkiye. Matteo Vespa, President of the European Students’ Union (ESU), attended the webinar in which it was discussed that students are suffering from financial difficulties due to rising inflation in Europe and how higher education institutions are dealing with this situation.

The webinar also discussed how urgent the problem of student poverty in Europe is and how the higher education environment is responding to these cost of living and education concerns, ending with a one-question survey and a questions-and-answers session.
