Muhsin Kar, THEQC President, Speaks on “Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education” at Iskenderun Technical University

Prof. Muhsin Kar, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), attended a conference on “Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education” as a speaker at Iskenderun Technical University (ISTU).

Prof. Tolga Depci, ISTU Rector, ISTU Vice-Rectors, and the university’s academic and administrative staff attended the conference held at ISTU Main Campus Orange Hall on 27 January 2023.

Rector Depci gave the opening speech at the conference, and President Kar made a presentation on “Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education.” Pointing out that the changes in the world in higher education increased the importance of quality assurance, President Kar emphasized that THEQC developed criteria aligned with international standards for higher education institutions’ evaluation of quality assurance and accreditation by considering the characteristics of Türkiye, and THEQC paid particular attention to the institutions’ provision of area-specific competencies and increase of alumni employability.

President Kar also gave detailed information to the participants about Quality Assurance in Higher Education, Objectives of Quality Assurance, Quality Perception of Stakeholders, Quality Assurance Systems, THEQC and the Quality Assurance Framework, and Quality Assurance and Accreditation Practices in his speech.

The conference ended with Rector Depci’s presenting a gift to President Kar after a questions-and-answers session with participants.
