The International Rumelia Social Sciences Congress Is Organised with President Kocabıçak's Attendance in Skopje
The opening session of the International Rumelia Social Sciences Congress, organised in cooperation with İstanbul Rumeli University and International Balkan University, was held on 14 May 2025 in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.
In the session attended by Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC); Prof. Mustafa Kara, Rector of Istanbul Rumeli University; Prof. Lütfi Sunar, Rector of the International Balkan University; Prof. Ali Güneş; Rector of New York University Tirana, and Fevziye Şeyma Babayiğit, TİKA Skopje Program Coordinator, as well as many local and foreign participants, current developments in the field of social sciences and the importance of regional cooperation were emphasised.
The congress, chaired by Prof. Mustafa Kara, aimed to encourage knowledge sharing among academics and researchers working in the field of social sciences and to strengthen the cultural and scientific bridge between the Balkans and Türkiye.
President Kocabıçak made a presentation on “The Importance of Accreditations in Higher Education and the Impact of Artificial Intelligence” at the congress. In his speech, Kocabıçak stated that THEQC had now become a council that provides international accreditation in addition to national accreditation, and that accreditations had become very important in terms of worldwide recognition, international equivalence, competition between universities, global employment and internationalisation. President Kocabıçak concluded his speech by providing information on how artificial intelligence affects the business world and higher education, and the steps that need to be taken.
