10 HEIs Receive Their Institutional Accreditation Certificates in İstanbul
The accreditation certificate presentation ceremony for ten universities holding accreditation as a result of the 2024 Institutional Accreditation Program, organised by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), was hosted by Yıldız Technical University on 16 May 2025.
Accreditation certificates were presented to the rectors of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Gebze Technical University, İstanbul Gelişim University, MEF University, Beykoz University, İstanbul Bilgi University, Maltepe University, Piri Reis University, Kırklareli University and İstanbul Medipol University, which are based in and around Istanbul.
Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak gave an opening speech at the certificate presentation ceremony and pointed out the importance of institutional accreditation, stating that accreditations became crucial in worldwide recognition, international equivalence, competition between universities, global employment, and internationalisation.
Following the opening speech, the documents were presented to the university rectors by President Kocabıçak; Prof. Mustafa Çufalı, THEQC Vice President; Prof. Feyza Arıcıoğlu, Prof. Şule Itır Satoğlu, Prof. Murat Önder, Prof. Vatan Karakaya, Prof. Ali Azar, Prof. Mustafa Necmi İlhan, Council Members; Fatma Derya Arıkan, the student member of the Council, and Mehmet Yılmaz, THEQC Secretary General.
