THEQC Participates in the British Council Event on ''Building Resilient Futures: Ensuring Inclusive and Sustainable Quality in Higher Education'' in the UK
Prof. Feyza Arıcıoğlu, a Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) Member, and an accompanying delegation attended the event, titled “Building Resilient Futures: Ensuring Inclusive and Sustainable Quality in Higher Education” and organised in the United Kingdom, upon the invitation of the British Council Türkiye.
Held in London between 18-20 October 2023, the event brought together the UK-based and overseas higher education stakeholders from ten countries shaping higher education around the world.
Workshop participants included higher education quality assurance organisations, higher education umbrella and regulatory bodies, as well as academics and corporate leaders. The prominent theme of the workshop, supported by the presentations of QAA “The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education” and Advance HE, which carries out studies in the field of quality assurance in higher education in the United Kingdom, focused on the axis of inclusiveness and sustainability in higher education.
Prof. Arıcıoğlu made a country presentation summarising the perspective of Türkiye and the quality assurance mechanisms in the Turkish higher education system towards sustainability and inclusiveness. Explaining the reflections of social policies that provide access to higher education in areas such as gender equality and access to higher education for disadvantaged groups, Prof. Arıcıoğlu also presented information on how the quality assurance system supports this transformation with evaluation criteria.
Other prominent topics of the workshop were “QAA International Institutional Accreditation Model” and “Times Higher Education’s Ranking Studies on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)”. As part of the event, a visit was also made to the University of London.
