THEQC Participates in Workshop on Determining a National Approach to Micro-Credentials
The “Workshop on Determining a National Approach to Micro-Credentials”, organised by the Vocational Qualifications Authority (VQA), was held in Ankara on 18-19 October 2023 with the participation of representatives from the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC).
Representatives from the Ministry of National Education (MoNE), the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), universities and non-governmental organisations, as well as national and international experts working in the field of micro-credentials, attended the workshop. Mehmet Ordukaya, VQA Vice-President, and Ali Karagöz, Director General of MoNE Vocational and Technical Education and the VQA Board Chair, delivered the opening speeches.
On the first day of the workshop, topics such as the concept of micro-credentials, the European approach to micro-credentials, certification, recognition and transfer opportunities of micro-credentials, and the quality assurance approach to micro-credentials were discussed. The second day started with a panel discussion and questions-and-answers session.
On the second day, three sessions on “Evaluation of micro-credentials examples in our country and determination of the fundamental characteristics of micro-credentials, definition”, “Evaluation of the necessary quality assurance criteria for Micro-Credentials,” and “Identification of stakeholder organizations operating in the field of micro-credentials, evaluation of needs and potential collaboration opportunities” were carried out and participants expressed their opinions in groups.
The workshop ended after a general assessment session and a questions-and-answers session.
