THEQC Students Commission Participates in a Conference by Social Sciences, Humanities, and Basic Sciences Accreditation and Rating Association (STAR)

Members of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) Students Commission attended as listeners the conference on “Quality Assurance Standards and Guidelines in the European Higher Education Area” held by STAR on 4 October 2023.

E. Taha Akbaş, Commission Chair, and Aslı Özmutlu, Berkay Tarım, Esra Köyönü, Evra Gürbüz and Meliha Taşdemir, Commission Members, were present at the conference that informed participants about the quality assurance standards and guidelines in the European Higher Education Area.

Prof. Ali Bıçak, STAR Internationalization Committee Chair, moderated the conference. Daine Freiberger from the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) gave information about standards and guidelines for internal quality assurance. Iring Wasser from the Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes of Engineering, Information Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN), emphasized the importance of stakeholder involvement in external quality assurance, design and continuous improvement processes. Ronny Heintze from the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programmes (AQAS) talked about the role of agencies in quality assurance and the guidelines they must implement. The conference, which lasted approximately three hours, ended after a closing speech and good wishes.
