Prof. Muhsin Kar, THEQC President, Presents the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Yıldız Technical University
The Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) presented the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Yıldız Technical University (YTU) at a ceremony within the scope of the 2021 Institutional Accreditation Program conducted by THEQC.
Prof. Muhsin Kar, THEQC President; Prof. Tamer Yılmaz, YTU Rector; Mehmet Yılmaz, THEQC Secretary General; the university’s governing body, and academic and administrative staff attended the ceremony organised at YTU Davutpaşa Campus.
Prof. Muhsin Kar, THEQC President, informed the participants about the Council’s work and institutional evaluation processes. Stating that continuous improvement in the quality levels of learning and teaching, research and development, service to society and administrative services, the basic functions of universities, and their reflection on the public were important, Prof. Kar said that YTU was among the institutions that voluntarily participated in the institutional accreditation processes of THEQC. Emphasizing that leadership was also necessary to obtain the Institutional Accreditation Certificate, President Kar pointed out the importance of the university’s governing body, especially the rectors, embracing the efforts to establish and operate the quality assurance system. President Kar congratulated Rector Yılmaz and all Yıldız Technical University stakeholders for their active involvement in the process and their contribution to obtaining the certificate and wished the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to be beneficial for the university.
In his opening speech at the ceremony, Rector Yılmaz said that the governance approach should be addressed holistically and that the quality assurance system process got involved at this point. Stating that the Institutional Accreditation Certificate granted by THEQC was one of the most valuable outputs in this process, Prof. Yılmaz said, “I am excited that YTU has taken place among a few universities in Türkiye that obtained this certificate. With the effect of this certificate, our other processes, such as education, R&D, and social responsibility, will continue even faster and more efficiently with the cultural accumulation, experience, and learning we have gained here.” Rector Yılmaz thanked President Kar and the THEQC team members for their efforts resulting in the grant of the Institutional Accreditation Certificate.
