İstanbul University Hosts Prof. Muhsin Kar, THEQC President, for a Speech on ”Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education”

Prof. Muhsin Kar, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), attended a conference on ”Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education” as a speaker at İstanbul University (İU).

Prof. Mahmut Ak, İU Rector, gave the opening speech of the conference organised at İU Rectorate Building, Doctoral Hall, on 27 September 2022. At the conference, President Kar made a presentation titled “Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education”, in which he defined the concept of quality assurance in higher education and stated that quality assurance work aims to accelerate the transition from university to business life and shorten this process as much as possible.

Expressing that quality assurance work will increase access to higher education opportunities and contribute to learning and teaching, R&D, and service to society activities, Prof. Kar noted that THEQC adopted an output-oriented approach in the quality assurance system and expected higher education institutions to present a model that meets their needs.

President Kar also noted that THEQC’s goals in quality assurance were to contribute to national development, prepare students for life following national and global qualifications, and excel in education, and conveyed the framework of THEQC’s quality assurance system and the means by which it is implemented.
