THEQC and the Mauritanian Higher Education Quality Assurance Authority (AMAQ-ES) Sign a Memorandum of Understanding
ANKARA – A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) and the Mauritanian Higher Education Quality Assurance Authority (AMAQ-ES) at the meeting held in Ankara.
Giving a welcoming speech at the meeting, Prof. Muhsin Kar, THEQC President, expressed his desire that the MoU would be fruitful for both institutions and emphasized that it would be important to share the experiences of THEQC in national and international networks with AMAQ-ES.
Dr Haless, AMAQ-ES Director, said, “We are in Ankara today to sign a memorandum of understanding with the esteemed President of THEQC, following the communication started between the two institutions by letter and continued with an online meeting. I regard a number of jointly planned activities, especially THEQC’s 2023 International Conference on Quality Assurance and Accreditation, of which we are a stakeholder, as an excellent opportunity to improve relations between the institutions and the countries.”
Dr M. Lemine Haless, AMAQ-ES Director; Prof. Sidi Mohamed Abdullahi, AMAQ-ES Deputy Director, and Sidi Mohamed Sayid, an Adviser of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, attended the meeting as representatives of AMAQ-ES. Prof. Muhsin Kar, THEQC President; Prof. Mustafa Çufalı, THEQC Vice-President; Mehmet Yılmaz, Secretary General, and THEQC experts were also present at the meeting to represent THEQC.
The meeting, which started with the self-introductions by THEQC and AMAQ-ES, continued with presentations, an exchange of ideas, and a questions and answers session. Assoc. Prof. Ayşegül Kozak Çakır, the THEQC expert, introduced THEQC with a presentation, and Dr M. Lemine Haless, AMAQ-ES Director, continued with his presentation on AMAQ-ES. The meeting ended after the two institutions signed an MoU.
Within the scope of the MoU, THEQC and AMAQ-ES will carry out joint works on issues such as institutional external evaluation and institutional accreditation of higher education institutions, increasing the competencies of evaluators and experts, and sharing good practices.
