Information Meeting for Follow-up Officers to Accreditation Agencies is Held

The Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) held a ”Information Meeting for Follow-up Officers to Accreditation Agencies.”

 THEQC President Muhsin Kar, the Council members, and the invited follow-up officers attended the online meeting. Stating that the Council members used to perform the follow-up process for accreditation agencies, President Kar expressed that THEQC wishes to carry out the program through the peer learning method from now on and that the meeting was held to inform the participants in this respect.

President Muhsin Kar emphasized that THEQC acts with a sense of organizational responsibility for the maturation of quality processes in higher education and noted that annual activities of accreditation agencies used to be evaluated by the Council members; however, THEQC wants to turn this practice into a process performed with peer learning structure to make it disseminated in the sites in the new period. President Kar thanked the participants at the information meeting and used the following expressions, “We are planning the cross-commissioning of the experienced evaluators, who worked at accreditation agencies and THEQC’s programs before, to monitor the annual activities of accreditation agencies. In this scope, first of all, annual reports completed by the accreditation agencies will be assessed according to the related rules and principles. We want the Follow-up Officers assigned to monitor the accreditation agencies to fulfil this duty for two years.”

The meeting continued with the presentation made by Ayhan Koçer, CoHe expert, to inform participants about the course of the follow-up process for national accreditation agencies. Follow-up officers were asked to express their opinions, suggestions and questions at the end of the meeting.
