The 2024 Evaluator Training for Institutional Accreditation and External Evaluation Programs Starts in Ankara
ANKARA – The Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) organised the first stage of the “2024 Evaluator Training for Institutional Accreditation and External Evaluation Programs” for evaluators, who will work in evaluation teams of higher education institutions, in Ankara.
Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, THEQC President, and Prof. Hasan Tezer, Vice-Rector of Gazi University, gave the opening speeches of the training hosted by Gazi University on 3 September 2024.
President Kocabıçak stated that THEQC organised the training to restart its face-to-face training custom halted due to the pandemic. Stating that THEQC aimed to bring together the experienced and novice evaluators at this training, he expressed that this effort would ensure the spread of quality assurance systems in higher education.
President Kocabıçak thanked Gazi University for hosting the event and made a presentation about THEQC’s activities and the current status of quality assurance in higher education in Türkiye.
During the training, the evaluators discussed and shared information on what to do during the site visit process through case studies, group work and in-class discussions on Institutional Self-Evaluation Report (ISER) review, pre-site visit preparatory work, site visit simulation and Institutional Accreditation Report (IAR) writing.
The 2024 Evaluator Training for Institutional Accreditation and External Evaluation Programs will be completed after two more training meetings in Istanbul on 5 September 2024 and in Izmir on 10 September 2024.
