Stakeholder Meeting with Representatives of National Accreditation Agencies

The Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) organised a stakeholder meeting with the participation of representatives from national accreditation agencies.

At the meeting held online on 28 August 2024, several suggestions for increasing the number of accredited programs, various financial issues, and problems and solution suggestions encountered during the program accreditation process were discussed.

Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, THEQC President, gave general information about program accreditation in higher education institutions and made a presentation on the follow-up processes of accreditation agencies, the status of student evaluators and international memberships.

President Kocabıçak stated that only 181 of the 441 different program types in the 2024 Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide are ready to be accredited by national accreditation agencies and this number should be increased in the coming years.

Representatives of national accreditation agencies also took the floor during the meeting, and the ongoing problems in the field and various implementations and solution suggestions by accreditation agencies were discussed.
