President Kocabıçak Presents the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Çankaya University

Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), presented the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Çankaya University, which was accredited within the scope of the Institutional Accreditation Program.

At the ceremony held at Çankaya University on 3 August 2026, which was also attended by senate members and quality commission members, President Kocabıçak presented the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Rector Prof. Hadi Hakan Maraş.

During the event, President Kocabıçak delivered a presentation titled “Globalisation in Education and the Importance of Accreditations in a Changing and Transforming World”. Focusing on topics such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and globalisation in higher education systems in his speech, President Kocabıçak emphasised that the understanding of quality assurance must be continuously developed in the face of rapidly changing workforce needs.

Drawing attention to the fact that global trends such as the widespread use of artificial intelligence applications within the framework of developments in educational technologies, demographic changes, sustainability, new skill requirements, and digitalisation are reshaping higher education systems, President Kocabıçak stated that the ability of universities to manage this transformation correctly is of critical importance for a quality and sustainable higher education.

Providing information on the quality assurance system conducted by THEQC in Turkish higher education, primarily the Institutional Accreditation Program, he drew attention to the importance of the quality assurance understanding established in higher education institutions becoming an integral part of the institutional culture.

Pointing out that quality assurance systems hold strategic importance in terms of internationalisation, increasing competitiveness in higher education, and developing a culture of continuous improvement in institutions, President Kocabıçak stated that institutional accreditation ensures that the learning and teaching, research and development, service to society, and governance processes of higher education institutions are evaluated with a holistic approach.

At the end of his speech, stating that all stakeholders must meet around common goals in order to successfully manage change and transformation in higher education, President Kocabıçak emphasised that adopting the understanding of continuous improvement and strengthening the data-driven management approach are of great importance.
