President Kocabıçak Presents the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Necmettin Erbakan University
Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), presented the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Rector Prof. Cem Zorlu at a ceremony held at Necmettin Erbakan University.
The certificate presentation ceremony, held at the university on 21 July 2026, was attended by President Kocabıçak, Rector Prof. Cem Zorlu, Vice Rectors Prof. Bahadır Feyzioğlu, Prof. Mehmet Birekul, and Prof. Hidayet Oğuz, along with the university management.
Following the ceremony, an evaluation meeting for the members of the University Senate and Quality Commission was held in the university’s Senate Hall with the participation of President Kocabıçak. Delivering a speech at the opening of the meeting, Rector Zorlu expressed his pleasure at Necmettin Erbakan University being granted the Institutional Accreditation Certificate. Conveying his thanks to President Kocabıçak for THEQC’s contributions during the Institutional Accreditation Program process, Rector Zorlu emphasised that they will continue to act with a collective mind to make quality standards sustainable.
At the program, President Kocabıçak delivered a presentation titled “Globalisation in Education and the Importance of Accreditations in a Changing and Transforming World”. Expressing that the institutional accreditation process must be completed in all universities, President Kocabıçak stated, “Currently, the world requires universities to undergo external evaluation. If there are goals and if you want the demand for higher education to increase across borders, there is a need for this. The quality assurance culture in higher education is establishing a more solid foundation day by day. The narrowing of the gap between self-evaluation reports and independent external evaluation results is the most concrete evidence that the system has been institutionalised.”
Also mentioning the topics of the digital transformation of higher education and artificial intelligence, Kocabıçak stated that the ability to guide and manage technology with the right algorithms is more important than merely accessing technology.
The program ended after President Kocabıçak answered the participants’ questions.
