President Kocabıçak Presents Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University
Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), presented the Institutional Accreditation Certificate to Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, which was accredited within the scope of the Institutional Accreditation Program, at a ceremony.
In addition to President Kocabıçak, Rector Prof. Nevzat Şimşek, members of the university’s quality commission, academic and administrative staff, and students attended the certificate presentation ceremony held at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University on 7 July 2026.
At the ceremony, President Kocabıçak delivered a presentation titled “Globalisation in Education and the Importance of Accreditations in a Changing and Transforming World”. Drawing attention to the importance of strengthening the quality culture in higher education and critical thinking skills in the age of artificial intelligence, he stated that the determining factor in the future will be the competence to correctly guide, use, and evaluate this technology rather than merely having access to it.
Noting that information has become more accessible than ever today, President Kocabıçak stated that the primary duty of universities is not only to transfer knowledge but also to develop students’ critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and skills in accessing accurate information.
Following the speeches, the Institutional Accreditation Certificate awarded to Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University was presented to Rector Şimşek by President Kocabıçak.
