MoNE Publishes the Book of "Turkish Education System: Key Elements, Policies and Reforms" with THEQC's Contributions on Quality Assurance in Higher Education
The book “Turkish Education System: Key Elements, Policies and Reforms”, prepared by the Ministry of National Education with the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council’s (THEQC) contributions on quality assurance in higher education, has been published in Turkish and English.
The book provides a broad perspective on the Turkish education system and presents the basic building blocks, functioning and developmental processes of Türkiye’s education system in detail.
The book includes 14 chapters that complement each other on education levels and themes, and includes the suggestions and contributions of THEQC under the chapter “Quality Assurance”. This chapter includes definitions, history, methods and approaches to quality assurance under the headings of quality assurance in pre-primary, primary and secondary education and quality assurance in higher education. The definition, functioning and management of THEQC’s evaluation programs, namely Institutional Accreditation Program, Institutional External Evaluation Program, Follow-up Program, Mid-term Evaluation Program, and program accreditation processes for quality assurance in the Turkish higher education system are conveyed to the readers. Student involvement processes carried out by THEQC to ensure the internalisation and dissemination of the quality culture in higher education by students are also among the topics covered in the book.
The book sheds light on critical issues regarding the organisation of higher education institutions, teaching methods, financing structures, and the functioning of their governing bodies. It also provides a detailed account of Türkiye’s education policies, structural reforms and implementation processes.
The book, which also includes global trends, provides comprehensive information on the current state and future development areas of the Turkish education system through topics such as adult education and training and internationalisation.
