Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Minister of National Education of the TRNC, Hosts President Ümit Kocabıçak Alongside the Presidents of CoHE and IUC

Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, the President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC); Prof. Erol Özvar, the President of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE); Prof. Haldun Göktaş, the Vice President of CoHE; Prof. Naci Gündoğan, the Member of the CoHE Executive Board, and Prof. Mehmet Karakaş, the President of the Interuniversity Council (IUC), visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus upon the invitation of Nazım Çavuşoğlu, the TRNC Minister of National Education.
Within the scope of the visit, an extended university meeting was held with the rectors of universities in the TRNC and YÖDAK representatives. At the meeting, issues such as the closer interaction between the higher education systems of Türkiye and the TRNC and increasing all kinds of cooperation in this field were discussed, and the cooperation to be made to carry the existing relations further were discussed.
Sharing his views at the meeting, President Kocabıçak said, “As THEQC, we want to share our experience on the world-class higher education quality assurance system in Türkiye with our brothers and sisters in the TRNC. By signing a cooperation protocol, we want to organise training meetings in June with THEQC experts to support the establishment of YÖKAL, which will be established in the TRNC independently of YÖDAK, and to provide a series of training on quality assurance systems in higher education in the TRNC. We aim to start working quickly to realise the international institutional accreditation of universities in the TRNC.”
After the meeting, the delegation visited Ünal Üstel, TRNC Prime Minister, and Ersin Tatar, TRNC President, and shared the cooperation to be established with them.
