THEQC Visits the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

Prof. Muhsin Kar, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), paid a working visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in order to make contacts within the scope of the cooperation protocol for the accreditation of higher education institutions.

On 16 December 2022, THEQC paid a one-day working visit to the TRNC aiming to make contacts for the realization of the previously determined activities and the creation of a roadmap in accordance with the activity “3.5.1.1.1.a Works for the accreditation of HEIs by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) shall be increased.” specified in the “Framework and Action Plan for Cooperation Between the Republic of Türkiye and the TRNC” that is annexed to the “Agreement on Economic and Financial Cooperation between the Government of Republic of Türkiye and the Government of TRNC.”

President Kar first visited Nazım Çavuşoğlu, the TRNC Minister of National Education, then respectively met with Aytunç Şirket, the TRNC National Education Undersecretary; Prof. Turgay Avcı, President of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation, and Coordination Council (YODAK), and Prof. Metin Feyzioğlu, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Nicosia.

Asst. Prof. Songül Omur, THEQC Academic Expert; Behçet Çelebi, TRNC MoNE Head of Department of Higher Education and Foreign Relations; Kemal Şöforoğlu, Executive Assistant of the Minister; Ömer Cihan, Coordinator of the Development and Economic Cooperation Office (DECO), and Gülsüm Gözenler, DECO Expert, as well as THEQC and YODAK representatives, attended the meeting.
