Distance Education and Quality Assurance System in Higher Education
With the transition to distance education in all programs of national higher education institutions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring quality assurance in distance learning has become the top priority on THEQC’s agenda. Throughout this process, we aim to guide higher education institutions on the components, principles and quality indicators of the quality assurance system in distance learning. To this end, the Council has formed the “Distance Education Working Group” as of 27 March 2020. The components that are required to establish a quality distance education system and the scope of these components have been specified by the working group. The main components of quality distance education can be listed as follows:
- Distance Education Policy
- Infrastructure and Accessibility
- Competencies
- Learning and Teaching Processes
- Professional Human Resources and Support Services
- Information Security and Ethical Aspects
The scope of the components is available on THEQC Information Portal (https://portal.yokak.gov.tr/ ). In addition, the working group has updated the evidence in the Institutional Self-Evaluation Report Writing Guide (Version 2.0) in consideration of distance learning processes.
