Evaluator Training for 2020 Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Program organized in Antalya on March 5-7
Between 5-7 March 2020, THEQC organized an evaluator training event as part of the 2020 Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Program in Antalya with the attendance of 252 evaluator candidates.
Attended by academics, administrative staff, students and sector representatives from various higher education institutions, the event started with Dr. Sertaç Doğanay’s presentation entitled “Future Jobs and Dynamics”. Delivering the opening speech of the event, THEQC President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas spoke on the roles and responsibilities of evaluators in internal and external quality assurance systems in his presentation entitled “Where are we running?”. Stressing the aspects of continuous improvement and leadership in his speech, Prof. Dr. Elmas also provided information on the updates made in THEQC’s institutional external evaluation and accreditation processes since April 2019, the newly adopted rubric approach and the information sharing events conducted with international agencies in this regard.
Following Prof. Dr. Elmas’ speech, THEQC Vice President Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım made a presentation entitled “Information on 2020 Evaluator Training”, in which she relayed the findings of the previous year’s evaluator training and the 360-degree feedback surveys of the evaluators while explaining the objectives, updated scope and methodology of the 2020 evaluator training.
The second day of the training started with working group activities coordinated by moderators in eight different conference rooms. The morning session kicked off with the jigsaw activities that aimed the internalization of the Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation Guide (Version 2.0), and continued with the case studies relevant for the rubric approach, which is to be implemented for the first time this year. A simulation activity entitled “External Evaluation of Venus University” was held in the afternoon session.
On the third day of the event, each working group drafted a “Venus University Institutional Accreditation Report (IAR)” and uploaded their reports to THEQC’s Quality Assurance Management Information System (QAMIS). The reports were evaluated together with the moderators. After the efficacy of the training was reviewed, THEQC President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas gave a closing speech to express his thanks to the participants, moderators and THEQC staff.
