THEQC organizes “Team Leaders Feedback Meetings” within 2019 Institutional External Evaluation Program
THEQC organized two feedback meetings with team leaders in Ankara on September 24 and in Istanbul on October 25 after the evaluations of 45 high education institutions were completed within the scope of the 2019 Institutional External Evaluation Program.
The meetings started with the speech of THEQC President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas. Mentioning Turkey’s 11th National Development Plan in his speech, Prof. Elmas said: “It is targeted to increase diversity in higher education system and to make universities have a dynamic and quality-oriented structure with global competitiveness. To do this, universities need to set their knowledge-based management systems in which they can integrate learning and teaching, research and development and administrative systems; make planning; analyze and check the outputs; and monitor themselves with the perspective of continuous improvement. The road maps of universities in structuring their quality assurance systems should be to make students gain necessary knowledge and skills, to create a learning environment in keeping with the necessities of the time, to employ instructors who are suitable for these necessities, to track graduates and follow national and international innovations.” Lastly, stating that setting a system is more important than evaluating; Prof. Elmas indicated that universities are responsible for quality.
During the meetings, qualitative and quantitative data related to quality assurance systems of the universities evaluated within the scope of 2019 Institutional External Evaluation Program were shared by the THEQC Vice President Prof. Dr. Sibel Aksu Yıldırım. Prof. Yıldırım drew attention to the fact that according to 2019 data the leading areas for further development are “student-centered learning and teaching” and “monitoring and updating of programs”. She explained that the evaluation processes of all the universities that have produced graduates have been completed with the evaluations made in 2019.
The meetings ended after the team leaders conveyed their opinions, suggestions, reviews and impressions concerning the 2019 Institutional External Evaluation Program.
