The meetings started with the speech of Prof. Elmas, who in his speech made evaluations about the scope, objectives and outputs of the THEQC’s Institutional External Evaluation Program. Prof. Elmas said: “Universities are evaluated in terms of their missions and visions. We expect universities to work in line with their missions, visions and objectives and to convert those works to performance. To do this, they need to set up their own knowledge-based management systems, through which they can integrate their education, research-development, management systems, and can make planning, analyze and check the outputs and monitor themselves with the perspective of continuous improvement. Our universities’ route maps in structuring their quality assurance systems should be to make students obtain knowledge and abilities in accordance with the 21st century skills, to create a learning environment in keeping with the necessities of the time, and to make graduates adapt to business life.” Prof. Elmas concluded his speech by mentioning the self-evaluation, accreditation, quality and performance indicators of the universities evaluated in 2019.
After the opening speech, THEQC Vice President Prof. Yıldırım made a presentation that includes qualitative and quantitative data related to 2019 Institutional External Evaluation Program. In her speech, Prof. Yıldırım gave information about the program and shared general data from 2019 Annual Situation Report pertaining to learning and teaching, research and development activities and administrative systems of the universities evaluated in the scope of the program. Prof. Yıldırım drew attention to the fact that in the field of learning and teaching, the leading areas for further development are “student-centered learning and teaching” and “monitoring and updating of programs”.
