Türkiye and Pakistan Strengthen Cooperation in Higher Education Quality Assurance
An online meeting was held on 21 April 2026 between the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) and the Pakistani Quality Assurance Agency of the Higher Education Commission (QAA-HEC), with the aim of strengthening international cooperation in the field of quality assurance in higher education between the two countries.
Prof. Ramazan Bayındır, THEQC Vice President, Prof. Sema Yılmaz, Council Member, and Dr Ayşegül Kozak Çakır, International Relations Coordinator, attended the meeting on behalf of THEQC. QAA was represented by Nasir Shah, Director General for Quality Assurance; Mr Irfan, Quality Assurance Director; Agha M. Raza, Assistant Director, and other members of the QAA team.
In the joint session, both agencies emphasised their alignment with international quality assurance standards. The experience regarding external evaluation and accreditation processes was also shared during the meeting. In the discussions, concrete areas of cooperation such as joint accreditation activities, capacity-building efforts, and the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise the collaboration were addressed.
Providing an interactive environment that reflects a mutual commitment to the international development of quality assurance practices, the meeting also encouraged mutual learning. The meeting demonstrates THEQC’s increasing integration into global quality assurance frameworks and its commitment to improving quality and learning outcomes in higher education.
