President Kocabıçak Attends the Mersin University Conference on “The Importance of Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditations in Higher Education”

Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), attended a conference on ”The Importance of Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditation in Higher Education” as a speaker at Mersin University.

Prof. Erol Yaşar, Rector of Mersin University, the governing body of the university, academic and administrative staff, and students attended the meeting held at Prof. Uğur Oral Cultural Centre on 25 November 2024. 

In his speech, President Kocabıçak talked about the current situation and future plans in Türkiye and the world in the field of quality assurance system in higher education.

Informing the participants about THEQC’s activities in the field of quality assurance, institutional accreditation program (IAP), institutional external evaluation program (IEEP) and evaluation criteria, President Kocabıçak explained the importance of IAP and program accreditations for HEIs.

President Kocabıçak emphasised that the duties, authorities and responsibilities of all personnel should be well-defined to maintain quality assurance systems in HEIs. He added that therefore HEIs would see that their learning and teaching, research and service to society activities and administrative services would be more effective, efficient and productive as a result.
