THEQC Elects Prof. Mustafa Çufalı as Vice President of Turkish Higher Education Quality Council
ANKARA – At the Council meeting held in July by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çufalı was elected as the Vice President. Council Member on behalf of the Inter-University Board (ÜAK), Prof. is faculty member at Ankara Social Sciences University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Politics and Public Administration.
About Prof. Çufalı
Prof. Dr. Çufalı was born in 1962 in Zonguldak. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration in 1988. He started to work at the Police Academy as a Research Assistant in 1990. He completed his master’s degree in 1992 and his doctorate in 1999 at the University of Nottingham, School of Politics, International Relations program. He became Assistant Professor in 2001, Associate Professor in 2007, and Full Professor in 2012 in the field of Political History. In 2015, he transferred to Ankara Social Sciences University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Politics and Public Administration. He served as the President of TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) Scientist Support Programs (BIDEB) between 2014-2017. He served as the Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University between March 2018 and April 2022. Throughout his academic life, he served as Head of Department, Vice Dean, Head of Center, and Vice President. He also served as UI GreenMetric Türkiye Coordinator during his tenure as Rector. He taught undergraduate, graduate and doctorate courses such as Political History, Turkish Political Life, Constitutional Law, Türkiye’s Regional and Global Problems, Political Movements in Türkiye, Conflict Regions in the World, and he supervised master’s and doctoral theses. He gave lectures in Turkish and English in countries such as France, Hungary, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Syria, and attended conferences as a speaker or session chair. He participated in scientific meetings and events in more than 20 countries such as the USA, the UK, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Czech Republic, Croatia, Albania, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Malaysia. His articles and book chapters have been published in many journals and books in Turkish and English in the fields of international relations, international security, political history, Turkish foreign policy, Turkish political life, and he has taken part in national and local TV programs. He has been serving as THEQC Council Member on behalf of IUC (Inter-University Council) since July 2022, and as THEQC Vice President since August 2022.
