2022 ENQA Partial Review's Site Visit for THEQC Is Performed
ANKARA – A site visit to the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) in the scope of the 2022 ENQA Partial Review with a follow-up on the 2019 ENQA Full Review was held on 20-21 July 2022.
THEQC’s application for full membership to the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) was accepted by the ENQA Board on 28 April 2020, and THEQC’s 5-year full membership was approved.
The site visit and partial review report not only serve as an interim evaluation for ENQA processes but also represent an important step towards the full membership requirement of the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR). If THEQC receives EQAR registration, it is expected that significant progress will be made on behalf of Türkiye in terms of diploma visibility and equivalence in Europe, especially of quality-assured qualifications.
Within the scope of the site visit that lasted for two days on 20-21 July, views were exchanged with THEQC’s internal and external stakeholders at focus group meetings held by Fiona Crozier, Brian Norton, Stanimir Boyadzhiev, and Goran Dakovic, the ENQA panel members. Expressing that the meetings were very productive, President Kar said, “In this respect, THEQC thanks its employees, team and Council members who represented Türkiye in focus meetings for two days; the rectors who shared their experiences about THEQC’s contribution to change in universities; THEQC evaluators who are concerned about quality assurance in higher education; the Quality Ambassador students who impressed the panel with their motivation, and all our external stakeholders who contributed to our processes.”
The results of the report are expected to be clarified in August, and the final decision on EQAR membership in December.
