The 2020 Higher Education Evaluation and Quality Assurance Status Report Has Been Published
In accordance with Higher Education Quality Assurance Regulation, and Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area- ESG, Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) is responsible for preparing the Quality Assurance Status Report for the year, including recommendations for quality improvements, and presenting it to all its stakeholders considering the institutional evaluation reports of higher education institutions. taking into account the institutional evaluation reports of higher education institutions, “Higher Education Evaluation and It is responsible for preparing the Quality Assurance Status Report for the year, including recommendations for quality improvements, and presenting it to all its stakeholders. As well as making institutional, national and international contributions to the dissemination and development of quality assurance strategies, status reports present detailed analyses, developments, and current trends, highlight examples of good practices or areas for improvement. They also shed light on the actions to be taken in the following year within the framework of these analyses. Since the first year of the institutional evaluation processes, THEQC has published a total of 4 annual status reports and a 5 five-year general evaluation reports.
The Higher Education Evaluation and Quality Assurance Status Report for 2020, was prepared in a comprehensive manner, and consists of seven chapters. The first part comprises general information about the Turkish Higher Education System and THEQC’s activities in 2020, the second part, the contributions of THEQC to the internal evaluation work of higher education institutions in 2020 and the results of the internal evaluation processes of the institutions, the third part, general information about the institutional external evaluation activities in 2020 and the results obtained, the fourth part, the performance indicators of higher education institutions and their relations with the quality assurance system, the fifth part, the activities of the accreditation institutions authorized/recognized by THEQC in 2020, the sixth part, the stakeholder assessments regarding the activities of 2020, and in the seventh part, the results of the report and suggestions for policymakers and decision-makers related to the higher education system ecosystem, higher education system management, business world and graduates, higher education institutions, accreditation institutions, students and researchers are included.
THEQC conducted five thematic analyses on the quality of the Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports, the quality assurance of distance education activities carried out in higher education institutions, the THEQC Leaders’ Workshop in a Changing World and the publication performance and the student involvement in the quality assurance system of our higher education institutions between 2015-2020 in 2020. These reviews included in the Report respectively, “Evaluation of Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports and Giving Feedback: A Thematic Review of 2019 Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports”, “Higher Education Institutions 2020 Quality Assurance in Distance Education Status Report”, “Leaders in the Transforming World Workshop Series”, have been presented as five additional reports with the headings “General Evaluation of Publication Performance in Turkey for the Years 2015-2020” and “Status Report on Student Involvement in the Quality Assurance System in Higher Education”.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the esteemed members of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council, our national and international evaluators, our staff members, our institutional external evaluators, and all stakeholders who never lost motivation in turning this crisis into an opportunity, supporting us in delivering efficient and quality activities and contributing to the Higher Education Evaluation and Quality Assurance Status Report of 2020, despite all the negative conditions caused by the pandemic.
