THEQC Holds Meetings to Review 2017 Institutional External Evaluation Program
As part of the Institutional External Evaluation Program conducted by the Higher Education Quality Council of Turkey (THEQC), the external evaluation procedures of 50 higher education institutions were completed in 2017. Within the scope of the program, two meetings were organized in the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) Presidency on March 27 and 28, 2018 with the chairs of the evaluation groups and the administrators of the higher education institutions of which evaluations were finalized. The THEQC President Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Elmas, the THEQC Vice President Prof. Dr. Tuncay Döğeroğlu and the THEQC members attended the meeting held with the group chairs on March 27, 2018.
Topics covered during the meeting include:
- Enhancing the efficiency in training the evaluators assigned in external evaluation procedures,
- Improving the Internal Evaluation Reports and Institutional Feedback Reports,
- Establishing a quality culture in higher education institutions.
The feedback of the group chairs regarding these topics was noted during the meeting.
The second meeting was organized on March 28, 2018 with the rectors, vice rectors and quality assurance officials of the higher education institutions evaluated as part of the 2017 Institutional Evaluation Program. The CoHE President Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, the THEQC President Prof. Dr.Muzaffer Elmas, the THEQC Vice President Prof. Dr. Tuncay Döğeroğlu and the THEQC members attended the meeting. Mr.Saraç stressed that the most significant step taken within the new initiatives of CoHE was to establish THEQC as an independent quality assurance institution, adding that CoHE will provide all kinds of support to ensure the success of THEQC. Throughout the meeting, following topics were negotiated:
- Increasing the contributions of the Institutional Evaluation Program to our institutions,
- Forming a sustainable quality assurance system in higher education institutions.
The feedback of the relevant officials concerning these topics was also noted during the meeting.
