THEQC In-Service Training: Historical Development and Current Panorama of the Turkish Higher Education System

A training program on “Historical Development and Current Panorama of the Turkish Higher Education System” was organised by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) within the scope of the 2026 In-Service Training Program.

The training, held on 26 March 2026, and attended by THEQC staff, was delivered by Oğuz Yazar, Council of Higher Education (CoHE) Expert. The training addressed the historical development process of the Turkish higher education system, transformations in legislation, the institutionalisation dynamics of higher education superinstitutions, and inter-institutional relations.

Aimed at analysing the past deeply to interpret the current situation correctly and develop more accurate foresight for the future to effectively and healthily conduct external evaluation processes and increase quality, the training also provided comprehensive information based on current data regarding the higher education field.
