THEQC Represented at ENQA General Assembly Marking Its 25th Year
Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), attended the General Assembly of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) in Brussels between 22 and 24 October 2025.
At the General Assembly, where the 25th anniversary of ENQA’s establishment was also celebrated, the ENQA Statute, Rules of Procedure, and ENQA 2026-2030 Strategy documents were presented to members for approval and adopted.
President Kocabıçak received THEQC’s five-year ENQA membership certificate from Douglas Blackstock, ENQA President. At the General Assembly, where three new members were elected, Daniela Cristina Ghițulică was elected as the new ENQA President. President Kocabıçak thanked Douglas Blackstock, whose term of office has ended, for his contributions on behalf of THEQC.
The THEQC delegation, including Dr Ayşegül Kozak Çakır, closely followed the current developments in the field of quality assurance by attending sessions on topics, such as “ESG in a Global Context”, “ENQA’s Journey and Future Directions”, “The Role of Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area”, “ESG Revision”, “Stakeholder Involvement in External Quality Assurance Work” and “Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Work of Agencies”. In addition, the THEQC delegation took part in the “Thematic Peer Group Seminar on Quality Assurance in Higher Education (BFUG TPG-C)” as well as several other ENQA member agencies, and shared their experience on how flexible learning pathways and quality assurance issues are evaluated by different countries and agencies. The delegation also contributed to the work on the proposal package to be presented to the Bologna ministers.
