
THEQC Training on Institutional Accreditation for HEIs in the TRNC

In cooperation with the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) and the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK), an accreditation training program was organised to improve quality assurance processes in HEIs in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
University rectors, YÖDAK board members and a great number of academics attended the program held at the Blue Hall of the Presidency of the TRNC on 29 September 2025.
Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, THEQC President, and Prof. Aykut Hocanın, YÖDAK President, gave the opening speeches of the program. Speaking about the importance of the establishment of internal quality assurance systems in HEIs, President Kocabıçak emphasised the importance of quality assurance and accreditation processes in increasing the international recognition and competitiveness of institutions.
During the training, THEQC experts made presentations on quality assurance systems, internal quality assurance management in HEIs (THEQC Example), institutional self-evaluation report (ISER) writing and evidence management, the THEQC Rubric and ESG relationship, the place of students in higher education quality processes, and THEQC’s international institutional accreditation program.
Within the scope of the program in the TRNC, Ziya Öztürkler, the President of the TRNC Republican Assembly, received Prof. Kocabıçak and Prof. Hocanın at his office. During the visit, ideas were also exchanged on the future of higher education.
