Conference by President Kocabıçak on “The Importance of Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditation in Higher Education” at Demiroğlu Bilim University

Prof. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC), attended a conference on ”The Importance of Quality Assurance Systems and Accreditation in Higher Education” as a speaker at Demiroğlu Bilim University.

The conference, which was held at Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital on 3 May 2025, was attended by the university’s governing body and academic and administrative staff.

President Kocabıçak talked about the activities of THEQC and the quality assurance system in higher education. Stating that THEQC carried out the quality assurance evaluation of universities within the scope of many programs, especially the Institutional Accreditation Program, President Kocabıçak stated that they were working to improve the quality assurance systems of universities in Türkiye with a more inclusive, stakeholder-oriented and innovative approach.

Noting that universities holding institutional accreditation have many advantages, such as assuring the quality of education in the national and international arena, international recognition of diplomas, and continuous improvement and development, President Kocabıçak emphasised that it was important that the accreditation records of the universities holding institutional accreditation were entered into the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) database.
